It derives its name from the characteristic "blue notes" of jazz and the blues. Some of the most influential artists and music from Coltrane to Monk to Coleman just to name a few were Blue Note staples. Shelley Carrol is a staple in the jazz scene locally and worldwide performing all over with the Duke Ellington big band as well as on his own. He is a one of a kind talent and performer. Mr. Carrol was invited to join the Duke Ellington Orchestra by trumpeter Barry Lee Hall. This would prove to be an enormous musical opportunity. Since joining the band, he has toured the U.S. and over 30 foreign countries. He has also recorded and or performed with Maureen McGovern, Tony Bennet, Nancy Wilson, Joe Williams, Sheryl Crow and a host of others.
