Poetry's Love Affair with Music featuring Shelley Carrol

Shelley Carrol and Verve Culture present a night of poetry and music with some of your favorite poets and musicians. Shelley Carrol is a staple in the jazz scene locally and worldwide performing all over with the Duke Ellington big band as well as on his own. He is a one of a kind talent and performer. Mr. Carrol was invited to join the Duke Ellington Orchestra by trumpeter Barry Lee Hall. This would prove to be an enormous musical opportunity. Since joining the band, he has toured the U.S. and over 30 foreign countries. He has also recorded and or performed with Maureen McGovern, Tony Bennet, Nancy Wilson, Joe Williams, Sheryl Crow and a host of others.


Jaelun Washington Trio

On any given night you can find Jaelun performing with some of the best musicians and band mates like legendary: bassist Chuck Rainey of Steely Dan fame, and Sheryl Crow's saxaphonist Shelley Carrol, Pete Gallio, tenor sax man for the Woody Herman Orchestra, and Todd Parsnow, guitarist with trumpeter Roy Hargrove. Jaelun has also played with the famous Duke Ellington Orchestra.

Alcedrick Todd has performed with artists such as Jazzhead, Chubby Carrier and The Bayou Swamp Band, Bo Didly, Tito Jackson,The Equinox Jazz Orchestra, Irma Thomas, and Trombone Shorty, too name a few!
