Gaika James Quartet

Gaika James was born in New Orleans, but it was during his college years, he began gigging around Dallas with various types of ensembles ( gospel, funk, jazz, reggae, hip-hop, dance/electronica), and gaining a better understanding of how to play and interact with other musicians in creation. From that journey, the GJQ is born. The GJQ is an eclectic mix of many genres, with jazz at it's root. The GJQ'S members hail from Dallas, West Texas, The Bay Area, and Southeast Texas. Flipside
$ No cover |
The Flipside musical experience is a unique combination of American musical forms. A combination of Jazz with world beat and creative improvisation. Frustrated by the limitations imposed from the commercialism of the music industry and the pressure to conform to a narrow style, Flipside was formed in 2000. Flipside works in an ensemble style - with each member carrying equal weight. "Serious Fun" is the main philosophy driving the group. Paul Unger is the Assistant Principal Bass with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. Dennis Durick (Drums) has played and recorded with Dave Liebman, Joe McBride, Quartet Out and Circo. Dave Monsch (Sax) is currently very active in the original Jazz, Big Band, Avant Garde, and the straight ahead music scene in DFW as well in the studio. |
