The Singapore Slingers
The Singapore Slingers are an orchestra based in Dallas, Texas specializing in the music of 1900-1935. The orchestrations are almost all authentic, vintage stocks with some original arrangements thrown in as well. These include one steps, two steps, rags, marches, waltzes, and of course fox trots! The group seeks to keep alive this unique and very special style of music which is often overlooked and overshadowed by the big band era. This will be a smaller band version of the orchestra, but just as swell. They play the tunes completely true to their fashion just as they were back in their heyday- call it historic preservation! |

Flipside

The Flipside musical experience is a unique combination of American musical forms. A combination of Jazz with world beat and creative improvisation. Frustrated by the limitations imposed from the commercialism of the music industry and the pressure to conform to a narrow style, Flipside was formed in 2000. Flipside works in an ensemble style - with each member carrying equal weight. "Serious Fun" is the main philosophy driving the group. Paul Unger is the Assistant Principal Bass with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. Dennis Durick (Drums) has played and recorded with Dave Liebman, Joe McBride, Quartet Out and Circo. Dave Monsch (Sax) is currently very active in the original Jazz, Big Band, Avant Garde, and the straight ahead music scene in DFW as well in the studio. |
